Can Mold Come Back After Remediation?
Remediation itself does not prevent mold from returning if the moisture source that caused it is still present. A correctly done job removes the affected material and cleans the area, but the underlying cause, a leak, poor grading, high humidity, has to be corrected separately or the same conditions will produce the same result.
Recurrence is the most common complaint about mold work done wrong, and it almost always traces back to the same root cause: the contractor treated the visible growth as the problem instead of as a symptom. Removing drywall and cleaning a stud bay looks like a complete job, but if the grading outside the wall still pushes water against the foundation every time it rains, it comes back within a season or two.
A warranty is one signal of confidence, but the more useful question before hiring anyone is simply: what caused this, and what is being done about that specifically, separate from the cleanup itself.

How would I know if the moisture source was actually fixed?
Ask specifically. A legitimate remediation should identify the water source as part of the scope, not just remove and clean. If nobody can tell you what caused it, that is a gap worth asking about before work starts.
